Help / Getting started
Your business profile
Your Business profile holds what goes on your returns: business details, your IRS EIN letter, the people on the returns, your banks and loans, and last year’s returns.
Where to find it
- Open the menu at the top right and tap Business profile.
- Work through each step. Most take a few minutes, and you can come back to any of them later.
What it asks for
- Your business on paper: the legal name, numbers and addresses that go on the return.
- Your IRS EIN letter: the letter that says which return the IRS expects. That’s a CP 575 or a 147C. An S corporation also sends its CP 261.
- Everyone on the returns: you, any partners, a spouse and dependents.
- Your banks, cards and loans: each account you pay from or get paid into, plus any loans.
- Where the year stood: a trial balance, if you have one. It’s optional.
- Your last filed returns: the full PDFs your preparer gave you. The latest year is required.
- Your back work: the months before we started, if there are any.
Can’t find your EIN letter?
- Search your email for “CP 575” or “EIN”.
- If a service like LegalZoom or a lawyer set up the business, check their documents folder.
- Your bank or your last tax preparer usually kept a copy.
