Help / Getting started
How Goatkeeper works
You send last month’s bank statements, your own bookkeeper keeps the books, an accountant checks the work and signs your return, and Gus keeps you posted in between.
Your first week
- Get your price. Answer a few questions about your business at app.goatkeeper.io/quote. It takes about two minutes.
- Read and sign your agreement with us, the terms of service, and then sign the tax information consent.
- Pay through Commas, by card or bank. The subscription is monthly.
- Fill in your Business profile: your business details, your IRS EIN letter, and last year’s returns.
- Send last month’s statements for every bank account and card.
Every month after that
- Send last month’s statements by the 5th.
- Your bookkeeper goes through every line. Anything they can’t tell from the statement shows up in Needs you.
- Answer those questions. Most take a tap.
- The month closes by the 10th, and your numbers show up on the dashboard.
Finding your way around
On a computer, the tabs run across the top: Dashboard, Chat, Needs you, Statements, Reports and Rules. On a phone, tap the menu at the top right to find them.
The same menu holds Business profile, Taxes, Billing, Referrals, Two-step sign-in, Agreements and Contact your team.
Who does what
Your bookkeeper is a real person, assigned to your business by name. An accountant reviews every transaction before a month closes and prepares and signs your return. Gus the goat keeps you posted in between, and passes anything that needs a person to the right one.
Still stuck? Message your team in the app, or email goat@goatkeeper.io. A real person answers.
