Form 8821, IRS authorization
Form 8821 lets your team see your IRS records. It doesn’t let anyone change anything, pay anything or sign for you.
Why we ask for it
With it on file, your accountant can pull your IRS transcripts, check that each estimated payment landed, and handle an IRS letter directly, so you’re not the one on hold.
How to send it
- Your accountant sends you the form, filled in with our details. If you have a business, you get two: one for you, and one for the business.
- Sign and date each one. Sign the business one as an owner or officer, with your title.
- Open the menu, tap Taxes, and under IRS authorization tap Upload the signed form.
Upload it within 120 days of signing. The IRS turns away one signed longer ago than that.
Once it’s on file
Taxes shows the date it went on file with the IRS. Nothing else changes for you.
