Agreements and consents
Before you pay, you sign one agreement, our terms of service, and then the tax information consent. You can read them, and take back a consent, under Agreements in the menu.
What you agree to before paying
- Terms of service: one agreement covering prices, billing through Commas, cancelling, no refunds or guarantees, what happens to your records, and, in its Service terms section, the work we do, the work we don’t, and what we need from you. You scroll through it, tick that you have read it, and sign by typing your name. Read the terms of service.
- Consent to disclosure of tax return information: the outside services that handle your tax information for us, each named with what it gets. One signature, your typed name, covers them all. Federal law says this consent must be separate from the agreement, so it comes on its own screen right after it. Read the consents.
The optional one
There is also a consent to use of tax return information. It’s optional. Tap No thanks and nothing about your books or returns changes.
Seeing or taking back a consent
- Open the menu at the top right and tap Agreements.
- Tap a title to read what you signed, and when.
- To withdraw a tax consent, email goat@goatkeeper.io.
Taking back the disclosure consent stops us sending your tax information to the services that keep your books and prepare your returns. Your bookkeeper will be in touch about what happens next.
When a document changes
If we change the terms of service in a way that affects what you agreed to, the app asks you to read and sign the new version once, the next time you open it. Before October 7, 2026 the terms and an engagement letter were two documents; if you agreed to those, you are asked to sign the new single agreement once. The old versions stay on our site word for word.
Still stuck? Message your team in the app, or email goat@goatkeeper.io. A real person answers.
